Research
At NIODA research is not separate from practice - it’s embedded in how we think, teach, consult and lead. Our research explores systems psychodynamics in organisational life, helping illuminate conscious and unconscious forces that shape culture, structure, strategy, relation to external environment, leadership and change.
We are committed to growing NIODA’s research capacity through staff research, PhD candidate research, master’s students action research, and our Centre of Research Excellence.

Overview
NIODA’s unique research profile attracts substantial peer-recognition, sustains staff, candidates and students interest, and external funding. The focus is to increase the impact of research, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; with this impact being measured in terms of the beneficial application of expertise, knowledge, analysis, and discovery to broad arenas of leadership and management in education, commercial and social enterprise activities, public policy and professional practice.
The Human Research Ethics Committee, a sub-committee of the Academic Board of Governance, acts as the final point of reference for ethical concerns for all NIODA research activity and for other matters of ethics pertaining to the institute as a whole.
Research activity in the centre of research excellence, develops staff and student academic capacity, and grows systems psychodynamic conceptual and applied frameworks.
NIODA’s niche research program complements existing research programs in Australian universities, thus contributing to Australia’s research output. This program brings together research expertise, partnerships, resources and perspectives in order to support the advancement and dissemination of knowledge within and across fields and disciplines, facilitating collaborative intra and inter-institutional research practices.
