Explore the Terrain

We begin with a careful process of data collection—through interviews, document review, observations, and conversations. We build a picture of the organisation, its people in roles, its context, history, patterns, and pressures, including what may not be immediately visible on the surface.

Reflect and Make Meaning

We share our reflections in the form of themes and working hypotheses about what may be happening in the organisation. This isn’t a verdict—it’s a mirror. Together, we look at what resonates, what challenges, and what reveals something new or what may have been ‘known’ but unarticulated.

Co-Design Next Steps

Rather than prescribe pre-set solutions, we work with you to shape interventions that are designed to work with what has been uncovered. These are always rooted in what the system is showing us and aimed at organisational learning. It may include, for example, leadership workshops, cross-functional dialogues, action learning projects or role-based coaching for teams and individuals.

A public utility’s senior team was in open conflict, clearly influencing their division’s poor staff engagement. NIODA helped the team surface the weight one executive was carrying alone and the untapped collaborative capacity of the other team members. This deep work together allowed trust to grow, shared leadership to flourish, and stronger team performance - with positive results for staff engagement.

Trust in a Senior Leadership Team

Following a merger, staff anxiety and complaints surged. Through an exploratory process with NIODA, leaders gained clearer insight into the disparity of experience between corporate leaders and client-facing teams—and the emotional fallout the integration program had overlooked. The organisation created space to acknowledge loss and express grief, laying the groundwork for staff-led change through action learning.

Making Space for Grief After Merger

At a women’s health service, a well-meaning restructure had backfired—fueling staff unrest and mistrust. With NIODA’s help the emotional undercurrents and client-system dynamics at play in the system were revealed, pointing the way forward for new leadership to rebuild trust and to re-set the organisation with integrity.

Reset After Unpopular Restructure

In a statutory authority, misalignment and conflict between interdependent teams had led to complaints, sick leave and resignations. Working to uncover the assumptions and misunderstandings between the teams gave visibility into deeper dynamics that were mirrored across the system. As role clarity came into view, greater cooperation was unlocked, and broader process improvements became possible.
